Welcome to your new planet! As a burgeoning interstellar manager, your journey will be full of growth, strategy, and occasional skirmishes. Here's a distilled guide combining wisdom from seasoned players to kickstart your cosmic endeavor:
- Focus on Unit Production: Your initial goal is to ramp up your sprout production. More sprouts lead to more farmers, spiraling into an even greater sprout output.
- Print Money: Use the Money Printer found under Bank > Print to create credits. Keep printing til you run out of papers and then upgrade. Each upgrade will completely refill your papers to allow you to print more. Each print is RNG, but there's a chance you'll print a lot of credits. These credits can be withdrawn from the bank and used to buy slaves from the market, upgrade your barracks and facilities.
- Missions Matter: Prioritize missions early on, especially those related to units and farmers. They not only offer guidance and a structured path but also come with rewarding bonuses.
- Purchase Slaves: For starters, it sounds morally and ethically bad, but just rememeber these are spuds, not humans! Slave potatos can be trained into Mine Slaves which are an excellent early game unit as they mine (coal, iron, gold) and produce credits. They do not get sick and do not require industrial workers to be trained. The downsides to Mine Slaves are the slow traning time (Barracks upgrades will be necessary) and the slight risk (When PVP is enabled) your slaves may be freed by an attacker.
- Gold Mines: Once you have some Mine Slaves and you've started increasing your untrained per tick with Farmers, you'll want to start increasing your resource production. The most important resource in the game is Gold, so you'll want to start upgrading your Gold Mines found on the the facility tab. Every facility requires engineers and power to run. So you'll need to train Engineers and upgrade and start running your Coal power, which is the best early game energy source.
- Resource Trading: Feel free to run a negative credit balance. It's normal! Ensure you have enough funds to last a few days. Trade resources like iron or gold in the market when necessary.
- Strategic Resource Production:
- Utilize miners and mine on lava planets for a passive iron income.
- Upgrade facilities like food factories and barracks for enhanced unit and resource production.
- Acquire slaves for additional resource production, but balance this with your happiness and ethical stance.
¶ 3. Population and Health:
-
Balanced Population: Aim for a diverse population. Start with farmers, then gradually integrate engineers, scientists, and eventually miners. A recommended early game ratio is 10% doctors to farmers to keep sickness at bay.
-
Monitor and Maintain Health: Keep a close eye on your population's health. Adjust the number of doctors based on the sickness rates observed in the happiness tab.
¶ 4. Happiness and Productivity:
-
Manage Happiness: Don't fret about fluctuating happiness due to wealth changes. Utilize the happiness section to adjust worker roles and maintain a positive morale.
-
Optimize Productivity: Consider reducing work intensity during early phases for a happier, more productive populace. Remember, high happiness is crucial for maintaining a productive workforce.
¶ 5. Infrastructure and Expansion:
- Facility Focus: Concentrate on enhancing facilities related to power, resource processing, and food production. Ensure a self-sufficient ecosystem to support your expanding empire.
- Research and Colonization: Start colonization research when it's feasible (ideally under 1 month's time). Focus on essential QOL (Quality of Life) research initially, then branch out as your capabilities grow.
¶ 6. Defense and PVP:
- Build a Defense: As you progress, integrate assassins into your strategy to protect against and counter other players' moves.
- Diplomacy and Alliances: If under threat, consider joining or forming alliances. A collective defense often deters potential aggressors.
¶ 7. Goals and Progression:
-
Set Milestones: Establish clear, achievable goals. Whether it's reaching a certain number of farmers or expanding your unit types, having targets helps direct your growth.
-
